ADC Recording is a Big Success
Article from the PitchPiper - Submitted by Bob Dykstra
The ADC Past Champions Tape Project, introduced at Fargo, was a huge success. The tape set features one song from each of the LOL District champions starting with the Hi-Los, 1945 gold medalist, and concluding with Jackpot!, who won the gold in 1997. The recording includes not only all-time barbershop harmony classics, but a number of novelty numbers as well. A recurring theme from all those who have heard the tapes is how well all of the quartets throughout the fifty years of the district's history sang "in tune." Another constant comment is the degree to which the tape project illustrates the changing face of barbershop harmony over the past half century.
A few tape sets remain for sale and will be available at a number of division contests in the spring. They will also be available at the International Preliminary contest in St. Cloud, if any remain. The best way to obtain the two-tape set (for a total of $12) is to contact Judd Orff by e-mail at juddorff@wavefront.com, by telephone at 651-439-3108 or by "snail mail" at 115 East Linden St., Stillwater, MN 55082.
All proceeds beyond expenses will be used for the Association of District Champions scholarship fund or in some other way supporting the betterment of harmony education in the Land O' Lakes district. Bookmark this page for all of the exciting details that the LO'L ADC will be doing for the District in 1998.
